Duncan Thompson
Many of you will already know this, but for those that don't know, Duncan Thompson passed away on Saturday. He was wearing a Blazing saddles top for his last ride.

Duncan was a founder member of Blazing Saddles and a key figure in the early days. He found and shared many of the paths and tracks we ride today and he dedicated a lot of his time to our club. He was funny, clever and dependable as well as being a fantastic bike rider on all terrains.

Many of us will have some great funny stories to tell that involved Duncan, tell the stories. Lets not forget him.

I'll post details of the funeral when I have them and hopefully we can get a good turnout of club members to show how much he meant to us. RIP mate.
Very sad news about uncle Duncan.
He certainly was a good soul, he was nothing but cheery and happy at all times, he never had a bad word in him.
I will miss my mentor that taught me so much about riding properly, even though he never gave me any advice on technique verbally (except for slow down or you'll kill yourself ) I learned by watching him ride.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
As he used to say when we were in the pub, "just one more for the ride home"
Gone but definitely never forgotten 😢

I too have many memories, of rides with Duncan, right from the early days of the Blazing Saddles club.
On club rides, on the trailquests and at the many club social events we used to have.
The first of our merry band of men to pass. He will be missed.

Only rode with Duncan a few times, as I joined after Duncan moved over to Clitheroe
On the occasions I did, I really enjoyed his company. A lovely guy with a great sense of humour, I suppose you need to supporting Wanderers.
RIP pal.
Duncan's funeral is
Friday 15 Nov, 2.10 at Skipton Crem, which is at Carlton.
Come as if you were going for a pint with him, no suits! Wake after at spread eagle sawley. Let me know if you're coming so I can pass numbers for food. Also I'm going to organise a guard of honour to ride behind the hearse on mtbs in Blazing saddles colours. Logistics need sorting yet but if you want to be part of this let me know cheers Sean

I can take 3 extra blokes and 3 extra bikes in my car... parking up somewhere nr Skipton... and driving on to Sawley after..

Worst comes to it... we can arrange extra drivers (wifes?) to come over to get us and cars back..

Jono + Clitheroe bike club probably joining us on the ride...
yes, I thats the plan as it stands. I can take one other person over with bike, park near skipton, join the funeral cortege on the bikes, drive over to sawley, then probably leave the car and ride back home later
Can I take a space in some bodies car.
What time are we setting off to skipton?
just to update everyone, I have spoken to the funeral director who will be driving the proposed route today. After he's decided the route, he's going to ring me and arrange a place where we can meet the funeral procession. Its likely to be within a mile or so of the crematorium at Carelton.

When I know the time and location of the meet point I'll let everyone know. I would suggest we all wear the 'old' blazing saddles tops (orange/grey/black), if anyone needs one of those, I may have a spare as does Mick Turner.

More info to follow

I'm picking Carlos up. Still got 1 or 2 places free.
The route and meet up point has been agreed and everyone who is doing the ride has been informed. If anyone else wants to join us they are more than welcome, just let me know. cheers
What time are you picking me up Sarge. We are taking bikes aren't we.
